We are currantly working on two projects. They are: continuing with the foundation rehabilitation on the remaining three walls, and stabilizing bell tower. At our August meeting we agreed to first concentrate on the bell tower as it is obviously in need of straightening and an important visual element of the building. Since the bell tower was not constructed at the same time as the majority of the building, it is somewhat independent of the remainder of the structure.

When consulting Joe Rice about lifting the Bell Tower he informed us that it would be more cost efective to lift the remaining portion of the building where the foundation had not yet been reinforced, at the same time as the Bell Tower. Being very budget concious the board agreed and the Building and Bell Tower are now lifted and work has begun.

When funds are limited, projects like ours must be carefully designed so that they can be accomplished in increments, each of which we can do ourselves, to the extent possible. We do not have the luxury of awarding a sizeable portion of the work to a building contractor. This year has been even more of a challange to raise funds to maintain the availablility of materials as we need them to complete the work.

Our extremely dedicated and capable construction volunters otherwise known as Rodneys Roustabouts, worked consistantly on the last part of the foundation to be reinforced. Almost every Saturday rain or shine Rodney, Steve and Terry could be found working on the foundation.

With the foundation preperation ready, a workday was scheduled. Everything came together nicely. Stewart and Brenda Smith donated the concreate and the rental of the trailor and picked it up and delivered it to us. This was a really helpful donation at a necessary time.

The volunteers had to unload the concrete one bucket at a time and carry it to the building and pass it to someone inside the building who poured it into the appropriate place. The volunteers included:  Rodney, Steve, Stewart, Brenda, Quinn, Letty, Rick, Dan, and Terry, Camp Singer boys (Anson, Zachary and Eric) + Parm, Kit and Janet.
